Jack Cooper - Biography Professional Biography : Thank you for visiting our Website and for your interest in Elite Trading Partners L.L.C. My name is Jack Cooper, Managing Director of Trading and founder of Elite Trading Partners L.L.C. I am an independent, discretionary, off-floor equity trading professional with 22 years of direct market experience. (FINRA report and employment history provided at initial consultation upon request.) For the past 12 years (1998-2010) I have derived 100% of my income solely by generating profits through the buying, selling, and shorting of stocks and derivatives in the stock market, either on my own behalf, or for the benefit of individual accredited private investors and other qualified market participants and myself through performance-based profit sharing arrangements. Throughout my career, I have proudly maintained a highly principled business reputation, and have an unblemished regulatory history. My first 10 years (1988-1998) as a professional were served in the securities industry as a licensed Series 7 and Series 63 Registered Representative, Quantum Portfolio Manager, and as a licensed Series 24 General Securities Principal at regional, independent, and national brokerage and wirehouse firms in Charleston, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia. My cumulative responsibilities over these 10 years included supervision of investment banking activities and brokerage office operations, compliance, underwriting and research, managing trade and market-making activities, as well as structuring stock portfolios and managing client assets for accredited private investors. At the latter stages of this period (1998-2000), I transitioned my business into specializing in equities 100%, with my expanding trading activities leading me to briefly run the trading desk of a regional investment banking firm, then to begin trading firm capital, and shortly thereafter to begin trading independently for my own account exclusively. During this time I acquired detailed working knowledge of the NYSE and NASDAQ trading regulations and practices, including but not limited to, order-entry execution practices, automated trading systems, SEC Reg. ATS- Alternative Trading Systems aka Electronic Communication Networks (ECNs), order routing, and agent vs. principal functions of the NYSE Specialist and the NASDAQ Market Maker. The following 5 years (2000-2005), as a licensed equity trader, I managed risk capital for accredited private investors through active potfolio management by actively trading millions of dollars in the equity markets through 100% performance-based, fully discretionary managed accounts, at one of the largest privately held financial firms in the southeast. (Performance track record provided at initial consultation.) The following 3 years (2005-2008) I took a voluntary leave of absence from full-time private money management and active trading after becoming a single parent and receiving sole custody of my two young sons. For the past 2 years (2008-present) I have been an independent, licensed, discretionary, professional equity trader, trading through my own account, through one of the premier proprietary trading or ''prop'' firms in the United States, and through select Trading Partnerships with accredited private investors. Trading Biography : ''Trading is a teachable science.'' Michael Covel All of the information required to learn how to be a consistently profitable trader is readily available in the public domain. However, the sheer volume of information available, much of it conflicting, can easily overwhelm an aspiring trader. As an experienced equity trader that has modeled some of the industry's top trading expert's and market professional's equity trading strategies and methodologies, with measurable positive results, I am fully confident in my ability to transfer my knowledge base to receptive aspiring traders. I speak from direct experience when I say, beyond any doubt, that people learn to trade far better and far faster under direct personal instruction from a qualified experienced trader. I also know with certainty that the trading methods I have learned, and now teach and employ, are simple to understand if explained properly, simple to learn if studied properly, and work very well at capturing consistent profits if applied properly. This is not to say that acquiring consistent, profitable trading skills is ever a fast or easy process, even for those with some natural ability, but it can be far less lengthy, difficult, and stressful than many make it by trying to go it alone. As a trader advances in his working skill-set, acquiring various edges through direct market participation, many more doors will begin to open that he can explore for applying his profit-capture strategies. When actively trading, I access and employ specific proprietary tools, tactics, techniques, strategies, methods, and technologies that I have acquired through lengthy direct experience, extensive study, as well as through direct instruction from some of the top-performing and most knowledgable traders and market professionals in the business, including Tom Dorsey (Leading Point & Figure Technical Analyst.), William O'Neil (Founder of Investors Business Daily and the CAN SLIM method of stock selection.), and Bob and Don Bright (Competitive professional blackjack/poker players and renowned professional proprietary stock market traders.). My trading methodology is the culmination of countless hours under the direct tutelage of individual teachers, the reading and re-reading of certain critical books and materials covering specific methodologies that I employ in my trading, daily chart study, and many discussions and debates with various noted colleagues over the years regarding the pros and cons of nearly every aspect of equities trading. And then putting it all through rigorous, repetitive trial-and-error testing in every market condition with millions of dollars over hundreds of trading sessions and thousands of trades, to discover and acquire what I have found to be the best and most effective applications for my trading. This body of knowledge and, more importantly, the consistent positive expected-value trading results that it is capable of producing, represents the core value of a Partnership with Elite Trading Partners L.L.C. By nature, I am a decision maker who relishes the opportunity to make my own trading decisions and to be rewarded or punished by the results. I wake up every day excited by that challenge. I founded Elite Trading Partners L.L.C. to bridge the knowledge gap for the like-minded market participant who wants to take their market awareness and trading knowledge and experience to a higher level than that of the average investor. As a professional trader who is passionate about learning, trading, and teaching those who are inspired to learn how to trade, I would welcome the opportunity to gain your association as a valued Partner, and to work with you on achieving your financial goals. If you have any questions about the information presented on our Website, Trading Partnerships, or your current trading situation, please feel free to call me personally at 404-441-7517. Good fortune and good trading! Jack Cooper Acknowledgements : ''You can get everything in life you want if you help other people get what they want.'' - Zig Ziglar Every trader with longevity that I have ever known, has shared a number of the same internal and external experiences (aka: being over-confident, exercising poor risk-control, lacking the patience to wait for proper risk/reward ratios to develop, over-concentrating in a position, letting winners turn into losers, whipsaws taking you out of a position, letting small losses turn into big losses, overtrading, revenge trading, prayer trading, etc, etc.) as I have, especially in the early stages of their trading education. There are innumerable yet very common psychological and mechanical trading pitfalls and bad decisions that blow traders out of the market every single day. Confidence, knowledge of self, the ability to stay focused on the process instead of the outcome, and learning from your mistakes are the critical components to achieving any level of successful trading, irrespective of your decision making process. Over the course of my trading life I have made every poor choice and trading mistake under the sun at least once, and have invested enormous amounts of time and literally tens of thousands of dollars in attending, exploring, and experimenting with numerous trading seminars, expos, books, newsletters, tapes, dvds, trading ''secrets'' the pros allegedly don't want you to know, software, web subscriptions, black-box trading systems, etc. as well as direct personal instruction from various trading experts and market professionals through numerous retreats, universities, workshops, and trading ''boot camps''. Other than the personal instruction from the trading professionals, and a handful of select written materials and tools, much of what I paid for wound up being a complete waste of time and money, proving the maxim that it is more profitable to sell hope than it is to buy it. I learned through direct experience to be wary of dream merchants who try to convince you that Easy Street and Wall Street are one and the same, or that some trading secret or indicator known only to them is your key to riches. From the perspective of learning for certain what didn't work in trading, my money could be said to have been well spent, and I hope to save others from going down these dead-end paths. Infallible, can't-miss trade set-ups and so-called trading secrets that are sold to the general public all over the internet and commercial airwaves are, by definition, the tail end of the trading dog, and will dependably fail in unforseen market conditions, washing out yet another crop of naive, newbie traders. It has been my great fortune that I was eventually able to discover, study under, and ultimately learn trading reality from some of the most successful and still currently active traders and market professionals in the business. In my learning curve in becoming a professional stock trader and risk professional, the process for building my methodology has always been to ''take the best and leave the rest'', choosing consistency, simplicity, risk-to-reward effectivness, and first-hand profitable results as my main criteria for selection. What I learned from spending time with and observing some of the market's leading professional traders execute their trading strategy day-in-and-day-out is that very few of them rely on advanced mathematical algorithms or complex formulas to achieve positive results in their daily market activity. Rather, they follow time-tested rules of engagement and loss-control, and apply fundamental and technical methods that have always worked and will continue to work because they are rooted in the basic market mechanics of sector rotation trends driven by supply and demand, and the understanding of human behavior and crowd psychology that drive market prices. With regard to the short list of stand-out individuals that have greatly informed my own education in this process and helped shape my trading methodology over the years, and who's words, concepts, methods, strategies, tactics, techniques, and systems therefore help inform this Website and Elite Trading Partners L.L.C. as a result, they are among the brightest, most generous, and most creative people I have met in my professional career. Therefore, I have accumulated a long list of ''knowledge/information'' debts that may never be repaid, but to whom I would like to acknowledge my gratitude. Special thanks to Thomas J. Dorsey, William O'Neil and the departed Harvey Houtkin, who first awakened within me the possibility that I might trade professionally for a living, and for providing me with the foundation for my trading methodology. Sincere gratitude to Bob and Don Bright for continuing to teach edge-based trading reality, and for being role-models of trader professionalism and information sharing. I would also like to thank, in no particular order, Ralph Acampora, Dr. Alexander Elder, Michael Covel, Larry Harris, Alan R. Shaw, Ben Lichtenstein, Jea Yu, Yale Hirsch, Rob Friesen, and Josh Lukeman for their contribution to educating traders in trading reality. And I'd like to give separate acknowledgements to the greatest stock trader in history and the father of professional stock market trading as we know it, Jesse Livermore, and to the greatest, in my opinion, of the modern-day stock traders, Monroe Trout. Finally, I would like to give thanks to God, for bringing Shelli into my life and for blessing me with the best dividend paying investments that I will ever have, my wonderful sons Rory and Connor.
